Welwyn Chavurah birthday

The monthly Friday night Welwyn Chavurah, in Hertfordshire, has celebrated its ‘Beit Mitzvah’, with a special service to mark 13 years since it was founded.

Originally established by Radlett Reform Synagogue, the group continues to grow and is known for its friendly welcome, musical and inclusive services, and the delicious food contributed by members.

The celebration included champagne, chocolates and, of course, plenty of cake. It was made even more special as it coincided with the birthday of one of the Chavurah’s founding members.

Rabbi Paul Freedman said: “This group goes from strength to strength. Providing alternative local options, we are seeing new people attending following the merger between Radlett Reform and The Liberal Synagogue Elstree to form Hertfordshire Progressive Synagogue. Members are also bringing along local friends to enjoy the experience together.”
