Israel’s elections can appear complex, even to those who follow Israeli politics closely. This four-part webinar series from The Movement for Progressive Judaism and Arzenu will offer a clear and accessible guide to the electoral process, the parties competing for votes, the issues shaping the campaign and the possible consequences of the result.
Rabbi Lea Mühlstein – the Immediate Past Chair of Arzenu – will begin with an introduction to Israel’s electoral system, explaining how votes are translated into seats in the Knesset and how governments and coalitions are formed. A second session will introduce the principal political parties standing in the election, their histories, leaders and priorities.
In our third webinar, a panel of speakers from Israel and the UK will explore some of the major questions at stake in the election and reflect on what the outcome could mean for Israeli society, democracy, religious pluralism and Progressive Judaism.
The series will conclude after polling day with an analysis of the results, the coalition negotiations and the emerging political landscape.
