Reading Liberal Jewish Community (RLJC) was delighted to welcome members of Maidenhead Synagogue to their annual Tu BiShvat service and tree planting at the Engelfield Estate, a local charitable foundation.
Around 25 people joined in, including plenty of children, for what turned out to be a very muddy and very fun morning. Under the guidance of the Tree Warden, everyone planted numerous tiny Douglas Fir trees on the site of a former gravel pit.
A community member said: “The sun shone for most of the morning, only giving way to rain just after the last tree was in the ground, adding a splash of drama to the day. Everyone then enjoyed lunch together at a nearby café, rounding off a joyful morning of nature, community and celebration.”
