Members of North Herts Progressive Jewish Community were excited to hold their first Shabbat afternoon and Havdalah in Hitchin. Rabbi Paul Freedman led a relaxing session of Hebrew and English songs on his guitar, accompanied by one of the community’s younger members.
The gathering also included a little Tu BiShvat learning and, of course, refreshments, before Shabbat concluded with a beautiful, spiritual Havdalah ceremony.
Attendee Rosalind Redwood said: “It was a great afternoon. Several of us no longer drive and live in the area, so we really appreciated it being nearby.”
Rabbi Paul added: “We are happy to gather anywhere in North Herts that meets the needs of our members. Hitchin is a lovely, convenient location, and we look forward to returning in the future.”
North Herts Progressive Jewish Community is a collaboration between Radlett Reform Synagogue and Stevenage Liberal Synagogue, which also includes members of The Liberal Synagogue Elstree.
