The highly motivated and talented Kabbalat Torah group of Kingston Liberal Synagogue led a special Shabbat Morning service for the community to mark the end of their programme.
Kabbalat Torah is a programme and ceremony where young people aged 15-16 are able to confirm their commitment to Judaism arising from a mature personal decision.
Kingston’s Rabbi Lev Saul said: “It was fantastic to see a group of committed teens show their love of Judaism. They were a credit to their teachers and their community.”
One student taking part said: “It was a lovely day, celebrating with family, friends and the community.”
Another added: “This service was an amazing way to showcase our group’s close bond and our strong Jewish identity.”
The shul and the group are now co-developing further programming for their own cohort, as well as for future generations.
