Manor House Trust
The Manor House Trust, which owns the Sternberg Centre for Judaism in Finchley, is looking for an additional independent trustee who could act as Vice Chair. The Sternberg Centre is home to Akiva School, Leo Baeck college, the Movement for Progressive Judaism, New North London Synagogue Shofar Day Care Centre and other communal organisations. The Trust is managed by a Board of Trustees representing the key stakeholders on the site and an independent Chairman. The Board meets 3-4 times a year, normally by virtual meetings. It is responsible for the development and operations of the site including site-wide security which is undertaken by an external company.
The site is administered by the Estate Manager, Ezra Busulwa, and two caretakers. The Chairman is the line manager of the Estate Manager and is supported by an external consultant and the Finance Director and HR Director of the Movement for Progressive Judaism. The site has a Management Committee which meets quarterly with all tenants.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of estate management and finance to support the Chairman. Besides the Board meetings, it would involve a few hours per month for emails and virtual meetings plus visits to the site as convenient.
