JLEE at East London and Essex Liberal Synagogue

This week, East London and Essex Liberal Synagogue (ELELS) is hosting the Jewish Living Experience Exhibition curated by the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

To start the week ELELS welcomed Ben Crowne from the Board to a civic reception at the synagogue with local councillors, emergency services and congregational leaders from nearby churches and a neighbouring mosque also in attendance.

Rabbi Richard Jacobi and Rabbi David Hulbert welcomed everyone to the event and Ben spoke about the exhibition and how it is being used to engage with a wider audience. He noted how good it was to see the stands and other materials from the exhibition in a synagogue as this was a good way for Jewish congregations to engage with their non-Jewish neighbours.

During the forthcoming week, Hanan Charles (one of the ELELS representatives on the Board) and volunteers from the congregation will be welcoming a number of school groups who are visiting the exhibition as part of their RE studies. Hanan will then take the exhibition to St John Payne School in Chelmsford where he will be supported by volunteers from Harlow and Chelmsford Jewish Community.

The Jewish Living Experience Exhibition is an interactive travelling exhibition which teaches about the Jewish way of life. Click here to find out more, including how you can bring it your synagogue.
