Glasgow Reform Synagogue member Zev Robinson’s 18-minute film A Small House in Kfar Saba: Savta Sarah is now streaming on YouTube.
The poignant documentary tells the story of Zev’s grandmother Sarah, who fled antisemitism in Poland with her family in 1933, and explores the hardships and challenges they faced while building a new life in Mandatory Palestine and then Israel. Zev hopes to hold screenings later this year.
The film forms part of Zev’s wider film and art project Distant Trains, which seeks to rediscover and recreate his family’s history during the first half of the 20th century. Further films in the A Small House in Kfar Saba series are now in development.
