Veidah, LJY-Netzer’s annual decision-making event for members aged 16+, saw young Progressive Jews put forward, debate and decide on the changes and policies they want to see.
Reflecting Progressive Judaism’s commitment to youth empowerment, Veidah places decision-making and the future direction of LJY firmly in the hands of its participants – while also being four days brimming with fun.
A key decision was the adoption of a new Educational Theme of the Year, Lo Alecha – the Jewish teaching that “you are not obliged to complete the work, but neither are you free to desist from it”.
Participants also agreed a new Tikkun Olam Project of the Year, which will focus on wealth inequality, and a mandate for climate justice sessions to be included on all camps.
LJY-Netzer Movement Worker Saskia Marrett said: “Veidah is youth empowerment in action and we are excited to see all these changes come to fruition over the next year.”
