Sha’arei Tsedek North London Reform Synagogue, The Liberal Synagogue Elstree, Radlett Reform Synagogue and Southgate Progressive Synagogue came together for a special evening marking 78 years since the Declaration of the State of Israel’s independence in 1948.
Hosted by Sha’arei Tsedek, participants both commemorated Yom HaZikaron and celebrated Yom HaAtzmaut, creating space to remember and rejoice as one community.
The evening included moments of connection and reflection, alongside Israeli music, song, dance and food. The programme culminated in a special service featuring a Yom HaAtzmaut choir.
Rabbi Shulamit Ambalu said: “We were all committed to bringing four synagogues together to mourn our losses, discuss our hopes, explore Progressive Judaism, dance, eat, sing and pray, because our diversity is our strength”.
