Alyth’s thirteenth Annual Iftar was filled with over 200 Jews, Muslims and Christians, coming together to study, pray and share a meal.
Everyone was welcomed by Rabbi Hannah Kingston and Rabbi Elliott Karstadt, before splitting into three study sessions to explore the theme of Finding Light In The Darkness, which everyone of all faiths is looking towards. There were three sessions, taught by a combination of Muslim, Jewish and Christian teachers, generating some very interesting discussions.
Following the lively and interactive sessions, Imam Mehmed Stublla led the call to prayer before those fasting broke their Ramadan fast (alongside those who just enjoy food) on a feast of falafel, breads, hummus and fruit.
Rabbi Hannah commented: “Now, more than ever, coming together with other faiths, to celebrate our similarities and embrace our differences is so important. Our Annual Iftar has become a real beacon of light, one which our community fully embraces.”
