More than 40 people attended a thoughtful and moving Yom HaZikaron service at Menorah Synagogue. The evening included beautifully sung psalms and contemporary songs, prayers, poetry and readings from key parts of the Declaration of Independence of the State of Israel.
Following the service, participants moved from the synagogue to the suite next door, where the mood shifted to celebration for Yom HaAtzmaut, with Israeli dancing and food.
Rabbi Kath Vardi said: “Maintaining a vibrant and shared communal Jewish life has always been a fundamental part of Jewish community. This is even more important now, in the wake of the attacks on various Jewish communities in the UK last week.”
