Members and friends of the South London Liberal Synagogue – including the Bishop of Kingston, The Rt Revd Dr Martin Gainsborough – packed the sanctuary to celebrate Rabbi Nathan Godleman’s 10th anniversary with the community.
In keeping with Rabbi Nathan’s request, there was a wonderful array of creative headwear in the congregation. Highlights included choir leader Maya leading everyone in a rendition of Adon Olam to Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5. After the service, the congregation headed downstairs for a big kiddush – which went in a flash, thanks to the large turnout.
To top off the celebration, Rabbi Nathan has also been presented with a commemorative photo book, celebrating his decade of leadership, which he is pictured here reading.
He said: “I have always been proud of being at South London. I am very pleased I came and stayed.”
